December Newsletter

Hi Everyone, welcome to our final newsletter for the 2023 Season!

What a terrific year of Football for LFC - everyone got to play full rounds - no Covid, no constant rain interruptions and we witnessed our Matildas give it all in an inspiring home turf WWC - the roof of the Club surely leapt a few inches after Courtney’s penalty shot. It was glorious!

The hard work put in by our Committee, Coaches, Players, and Managers translated into smoothly run competitions and another incredible year of success on the park - winning 2 x Champion of Champions competitions (G16 and U17), 2 x State Cup Titles (G14 and U17), Twelve (12) Premiers Titles and seven (7) Grand Final Titles and the NSFA Damian Miles and Rick Close Cups.

Our Men’s Prems took out the NSFA Damian Miles Cup and wrapped up the Club Championship, while the Mens O35s were Division Champions and won the NSFA Rick Close Cup.
Our Women Prems had a stellar year, undefeated in the WPL regaining the Premiers Trophy (it’s huge and has to be seen to be believed - check it out next time you are at the clubhouse) and were runner-up in the NSFA Women’s Cup.

A special mention to Lindfield Mixed Under 17’s who completed the TREBLE winning the NSFA U18 competition, the Under 17 State Cup and Under 17 Champion Of Champions, an awesome result, rarely achieved. You can check out all the results, pics and trophy winners on our Club Honours page - it’s a great read!

Of course, success isn’t just about the trophies, but is also a wonderful blend of team spirit, never giving up, supporting your teammates, having fun, keeping fit, trying your best and saying thank you to those who make it possible for you to play!
From all reports, it was a successful year for all our teams!

So until next year - regos open in January - have a safe and happy holiday break. We look forward to seeing you back out on the pitch.

Kind regards
Sarah Valentine - LFC President

November Grading and Team Selection

Over the month of November, across Charles Bean Oval and Lindfield Sports Centre, LFC held grading sessions for our SAP, Super League, Diamond League and Senior All Age Ladies teams in preparation for the 2024 season. This was a huge effort with record numbers attending the trials. Across 3 weekends we hosted over 44 hours of trials and welcomed nearly 1000 players, graded by over 40 coaches. Many were returning LFC players but a strong percentage looking to continue their football journey at LFC were from other associations, clubs and academies. It was especially pleasing to see such a strong female representation following the hugely successful Matildas campaign and LFC’s many female football successes in 2023.

While grading can be a stressful part of the year for players, their parents, graders\coaches, age coordinators and other volunteers involved in the process, the time and effort involved in reading coaches’ reports, planning and running grading sessions, seeking further player information, general coordination and admin and trying to get to the best outcome for LFC and the individual is truly appreciated. LFC would like to sincerely thank everyone involved in the process. While there are inevitably some tough decisions and conversations that follow this process, we continue to take on feedback and improve our program and processes year on year.

 Thank you for your support.
